Principal and Vice-Chancellor of University of Dundee together with team visit NMIMR

We were honored to host Prof. Iain Gillespie, Principal of the University of Dundee together with a team from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (B&MGF), LifeArc, Wellcome Centre Anti-Infectives Research (WCAIR) and LGenia from on 6th and 7th February, 2023.

The purpose of the two-day visit was to discuss the existing relationships between the two Institutions, consider research areas for further partnership and funding and strengthen collaboration between the Institutions.
In her welcome remarks, Prof. Dorothy Yeboah-Manu, Director of the Institute, highlighted that the Institute has thrived on friendship and collaborations, hence was looking forward to renewing current collaborations with the WCAIR and the B&MGF, and build new partnerships with the University of Dundee, LifeArc and LGenia.

Prof. Gillespie, expressed his eagerness to build and increase the partnership with the Institute and the other partners in attendance. The other teams also expressed interest in supporting research in ARM, NTDs, Diagnosis, among others.

The second day of the visit was an interactive session with Research Scientists in the Institute during which scientists presented our work in the following areas: Antimicrobial Resistance, NTDs, Clinical trials and Diagnosis, Anti-Malarial Therapeutic Efficacy studies, HIV (Antiviral drug screening), and the Drug Discovery Project funded by the B&MGF. The presentations were followed by discussion on potential partnerships on these themes, and other relevant areas, for future funding and collaboration.
