Prof. Hiroshi Kiyono

Prof. Kiyono is Distinguished Professor of the Future Medicine Education and Research Organization, Chiba University(CU), and Department of Human Mucosal Vaccinology, Chiba University Hospital, Director of  Synergy Institute for Futuristic Mucosal Vaccine Research and Development (cSIMVa), Chiba University, and Adjunct Professor of Department of Medicine, University of California San Diego (UCSD) and  Co-Director of CU-UCSD Center for Mucosal Immunology, Allergy and Vaccines (cMAV), UCSD School of Medicine. 

 

His research specialties are the areas of Mucosal Immunology and Mucosal Vaccines. Prof. Kiyono’s research is currently directing on the elucidation of the mucosal immune system for the development of mucosal vaccine against emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases and mucosal immune therapy for mucosa-associated diseases, such as food allergy and inflammatory diseases. 

 

In the past, he was a principal investigator led the SATREPS project from JICA and AMED with former and present directors, Profs. Kwadwo A Koram, Abraham Kwabena Anang and Dorothy Yeboah-Manu, respectively, Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR).
