Prof. Bockarie is Adjunct Professor, School of Community Health Sciences, Njala University, Sierra Leone and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. He is a specialist in the field of neglected infectious diseases and an internationally experienced researcher having worked in Africa, Europe, the Pacific region, and in the United States. 

He is the 2016 recipient of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene Mackay Medal for outstanding work in tropical health. Prof. Bockarieis the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Infectious Diseases and also serves on the editorial boards of other global health journals.
