Celebrating a legacy of dedication, excellence and impact as NMIMR bids farewell to three extraordinary members of its family

The Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) came together on 31st July 2025 to celebrate a rare and meaningful milestone, the retirement of three extraordinary staff members whose dedication, expertise and service have helped shape the Institute’s history and legacy. Colleagues, family and friends gathered for a ceremony filled with warmth, laughter, music and heartfelt tributes.

The honourees were:

  • Anthony Ablordey– Associate Professor, and Head of the Bacteriology Department.
  • Samuel Kweku Dadzie– Associate Professor, Department of Parasitology.
  • Samuel Sowah Anang–Assistant Technician, Department of Animal Experimentation.

Prof. Samuel Kweku Dadzie honoured with a citation for 29 years of dedicated service to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research. 

Mr. Samuel Sowah Anang honoured with a citation for his invaluable contributions over 14 years at NMIMR.

Held at the Institute’s premises, the event was a joyful blend of reflection and celebration, honouring the remarkable careers of the retirees and the deep impact they have had on NMIMR’s mission.

In her remarks, Professor Dorothy Yeboah-Manu, Director of NMIMR, praised the retirees for their immeasurable contributions, stating, “You have helped shape the culture and impact of NMIMR. Your influence will continue to be felt long after your retirement.”

The Noguchi Choir added a moving dimension to the celebration with harmonious performances that captured the spirit of gratitude and togetherness.

Colleagues shared glowing tributes, recounting personal memories and professional milestones, while expressing deep appreciation for the retirees’ unwavering commitment to research, mentorship and service to public health.

The retirees were each presented with beautifully framed citations and gifts, symbolic of NMIMR’s gratitude for their years of dedicated service.

Their chapter at NMIMR may be closing, but their story will continue to inspire. We honour their legacy, cherish their friendship and look forward to seeing the next great adventures life will bring them.
