Programme Overview

The MPhil in One Health is a two‑year, full‑time programme that prepares professionals to address emerging and re‑emerging health challenges at the human–animal–environment interface. The programme blends coursework, laboratory training, field activities, and a supervised thesis conducted through NMIMR’s world‑class facilities.

Duration

Two (2) academic years — four (4) semesters.

Language of Instruction

English.
Non‑English-speaking applicants must provide English proficiency results from the University of Ghana Language Centre (valid for 2 years).

  • A good first degree in a related field (Public Health, Biomedical Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Environmental Health, Allied Health Sciences, etc.)
  • Applicants may be invited for an interview

The PhD in One Health is a research‑intensive doctoral programme that equips fellows to address health challenges at the human–animal–environment interface through interdisciplinary training and mentorship across NMIMR’s scientific units.

To graduate, a candidate must:
• Complete required coursework (18–24 credits)
• Present four (4) seminars
• Pass a comprehensive examination
• Conduct original research and submit a doctoral thesis
• Successfully defend the thesis (oral examination)
• Fulfil all School of Graduate Studies regulations
