On Monday, 2nd June 2025, the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) warmly welcomed Ms. Katsura Miyazaki, Executive Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Her visit began with a courtesy call on the Director of the Institute, Professor Dorothy Yeboah-Manu, during which they discussed the deepening partnership between JICA and NMIMR, particularly in the areas of public health research and institutional capacity building.

Ms. Miyazaki was later taken on a tour of the Advanced Research Laboratories (ARL). The tour, led by Dr. Eric Kyere-Baffour, Research Fellow and Facility Manager, provided insight into the Institute’s modern facilities and innovative research aimed at addressing public health challenges.

As part of her visit, Ms. Miyazaki also stopped by the Thumb Stones, a commemorative area within the Institute that honours individuals who have made significant contributions to NMIMR’s growth and legacy. The moment of reflection underscored the importance of the people behind the science and the history that continues to shape the Institute’s mission.
