As part of the activities marking the commemoration of World Sickle Cell Day, the National Newborn Screening Laboratory for sickle cell disease and traits at the Department Clinical Pathology embarked on educational outreach at the West African Senior High School (WASS), Adenta.
Dr. Justice Kumi, a Research Fellow at the Department of Clinical Pathology, engaged the students with a compelling talk on the critical importance of understanding sickle cell disease.
The session featured a lively interaction, as students eagerly engaged in a quiz that debunked myths and highlighted facts about the condition.
The atmosphere buzzed with inquisitive energy as students posed numerous questions, turning the event into a dynamic and interactive learning experience about sickle cell disease.
The team plans to have another educational session at the Faith Baptist Senior High School on July 9, 2024.
