On Friday, March 4, 2022, the Director Prof. Umberto D’Alessandro and some Senior Members of the Medical Research Council Unit, The Gambia at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (MRCG@LSHTM) met the Director and Senior Members of the Institute to discuss areas of mutual interest for strategic partnership. This working visit is expected to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions.

 At the meeting,  Prof. Umberto D’Alessandro, who led the delegation, expressed his excitement about the prospects that the meeting held for increased collaboration with the Institute in the areas of Nutrition, Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR), Malaria, Tuberculosis (TB), Entomology, Cancers and similar diseases.

 The Director, Prof. Dorothy Yeboah-Manu also touched on the need for capacity building for both research and non-research staff for both institutions, harmonizing clinical trials monitoring, improve data management among others. This she said will help solidify the already existing collaborations between the NMIMR and MRC Unit- The Gambia.
