Mr. Ryosei Tanaka, a Member of the House of Representatives of Japan, together with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Ghana Office, visited the Institute as part of his official visit to Ghana.
The delegation was warmly received by Prof. Dorothy Yeboah-Manu, Director of NMIMR, along with Senior officials of the Institute.
Prof. Yeboah-Manu, in her welcome address, acknowledged Japan’s significant contributions and unwavering support for NMIMR’s growth and development since its establishment.
“The Institute played a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing testing and data to guide public health responses. NMIMR’s facilities are well-equipped to address diverse health issues and conduct internal and external training programs to enhance the skills of health professionals. This is largely due to the invaluable support we have had as an Institute from the Government and People of Japan”, she reiterated.
Expressing his admiration for NMIMR’s achievements, Mr. Tanaka lauded the Institute’s continued commitment to advance research excellence and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between Ghana and Japan in health research and capacity building.
The visit reaffirms Japan’s long-standing relation with NMIMR and commitment to addressing global health challenges through innovation, research, and international partnerships.
